The Education Publishing Company Ltd is an independent magazine and journal publishing house that was formed in March 1996 to publish the monthly magazine Education Journal. Originally based in Hove, East Sussex, we moved to Crediton, Devon, in 2002. Education Journal is now the leading education monthly magazine. Its 100th issue is available free to download from this website.

We launched our second publication, Education Parliamentary Monitor, in November 1996. While originally a print monthly, this now forms part of our Government and Parliamentary Monitoring Service that embraces three different titles and over forty reports published weekly, monthly and annually and delivered in print form, electronically by email and on-line.

Education Journal was founded by a group of journalists who had written for the weekly magazine Education, founded in 1903. It passed through a number of different owners before closing in 1996. In 1998 we published our own Education, which from 2000 has been an electronic weekly.

From 1998 to 2006 most of the titles we published were owned by partner organisations who were responsible for the editorial content. These included the British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration Society (BELMAS) and its magazine Management in Education and the Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration and Management (CCEAM) and its journal International Studies in Educational Administration. Back issues of these titles are still available from us.

Two years ago we began the move away from publishing mainly for other organisations to concentrating on titles that we own. We acquired the quarterly magazine Literacy Today from the National Literacy Trust, for whom we had published it since 1999. We still work closely with the Trust in producing the magazine.

In 2001 we became publishers of the National Union of Teachers’ journal Education Review. The NUT are the biggest teacher union in Europe and our partnership with them continues.

We also publish a series of pamphlets for IRIS – the Institute for Research into Integrated Studies.

Our international operations are outlined in a separate international section.
